Sandra Karick

Sandra, feels a natural affinity with the Australian landscape and seascapes, and enjoys the challenge of capturing it’s essence and spirit with the use of pastels, oils and acrylics. Representing reality of emotions and things around us in an impressionistic way is important to her and she constantly strives to paint a large range of subjects with different mediums in order to satisfy her creative urges.

Sandra started painting in soft pastel in February 2004. Being a realist painter and with limited time available she painted scenes from the Australian landscape and coastline, mostly from her own photographs and occasionally on location. The diverse ways of applying pastel and the use of colour were a constant challenge. The Inc results were often very rewarding and have led to Sandra conducting her own pastel tuition at the Mentone–Mordialloc Art Group. She now focuses on oil and acrylic in impressionist and abstract styles.

Her home is on the Mornington Peninsula and is a Member of: Peninsula Arts Society, Mentone Arts Society, Australian Guild of Realist Artists, Studio Sorrento Inc., Painters of the Peninsular and Beyond, and McClelland Guild of Artists and Studio 12. Her works are exhibited locally. A selection of works are on display at The Guild Art Gallery, 14 Mornington–Tyabb Road, Tyabb.
